New Charts from Biocam

The extensive range of biology charts from Biocam Communications now includes three new titles:

Volvox     Osmosis      pH

  • Volvox - the beautiful spherical algae is depicted in vivid colour with all parts labelled
  • Osmosis - the mechanism of osmosis is explained and illustrated
  • pH - a comprehensive list of items and materials is presented on the pH scale of 1 to 14

Biocam charts summarize the key information on a large range of topics and are considered ideal for reviewing lab exercises and preparing for exams because they bring their subjects to life.  They are a great supplement for those occasions when specimens are not available.

All charts in the Biocam range are 61 x 45 cm (portrait orientation) and laminated for durability.  Check the entire list of 71 titles in the Biocam range.

Did you know?

Tuberculosis is an age-old bacterial pathogen that is transmitted by airborne droplets and remains the greatest infectious killer in human history.  It has re-emerged to pose a serious global threat, causing more than two million deaths each year, primarily in developing countries.  Its multi-drug resistant (MDRTB) form is particularly dangerous and growing more widespread where crowded conditions and non-compliance to strict drug regimens are common.

A team of US researchers has now determined that TB microbes are able to sabotage the human immune system, thus increasing their virulence.  Not only do they undermine the immune system's ability to fight the infection, they also form lesions that envelope the bacterium and protect it for extended periods.
