Moths of Victoria

Part 2 - Tiger Moths and Allies - Noctuoidea (A)

Peter Marriott, 36 pages, soft cover plus CD with an additional 300 pages (pdf).

In Victoria the superfamily Noctuoidea includes seven families which are regarded as the most highly evolved of all Lepidoptera.  Six are covered in this book:

  • Stub moths - Oenosandridae

  • Notodontids - Notodontidae

  • Tussock moths - Lymantriidae

  • Tiger moths and Footmen - Arctiidae

  • Herminiids - Herminiidae

  • Tuft Moths - Nolidae

The seventh and largest family, Noctuidae, will be the subject of another title in this series.

There are over 500 colour photographs of the 175 species described.  Each moth is pictured as a pinned specimen (with scale) to show size and wing detail, and as well as in a natural resting position.

Tucked into the back cover you will find a CD that contains over 300 additional pages in pdf format.  This extra reference is ideal for cases where more detail is required.

This is an essential reference for naturalists, students, scientists, and others who are seeking to identify moths.
