A3300 Strep. pneumonia neck tie, wine “Strep pneumo” is a bacterium responsible for blood, bone and ear infections, as well as for meningitis and pneumonia. Considering its morbidity rate in young children, it's somewhat akin to a pediatrician’s “annuity"! It’s also a common nosocomial nasty, made even more so by its growing resistance to antibiotic therapy. A vaccine is available that is highly recommended for both children and seniors.
